VILLAGE HALL
EARLY HISTORY
The early history of the Village Hall is closely linked to that of Foulridge Ambulance Division. They raised the money to purchase the land in Towngate on which the hall was built. Originally known as the Assembly Hall, the building was completed with the help of a donation from Edward Carr, who was a generous benefactor to the village. The Parish Council, which had been meeting in the school, was given the use of the hall, then according to the Deed of the Assembly Hall records, if the membership of the Ambulance Association fell below six, the property would pass entirely to the Parish Council as a Village Hall. This actually occurred in the late 1950s
If you have any queries which you would like to raise, there are a number of methods to contact the Parish Council. Take a look at the ‘Contact Us’ page and either email, phone, facebook or leave us a message via the online form. Thank you.
