The Jo Cox Great Get Together 2019

This event was a great success last year and so to celebrate the life of Jo Cox, two years after her tragic death, Foulridge Parish Council are again holding an Afternoon Tea for Residents of Foulridge on Sunday 24th June at 2pm – 4pm. Jo would have been 44 years old on this date.

“We are far more united and
have far more in common than
that which divides us”.

Our background music will be by Trawden String Quartet who are kindly donating their services again as they are also strong believers in bringing our communities together.
Yes, this is a free event but donations will be accepted for the Foulridge Village Hall Fund.
Below is the event report from last year which appeared in the Colne Times and a photograph showing Trawden String Quartet on the stage.

‘Many events were held in June to remember Jo Cox, MP for Spen & Batley, a year after she was murdered.

In her first speech to Parliament Jo said, “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us”.

Jo wanted a  chance to bring our communities together to celebrate what unites us.

So to bring our own community together, Foulridge Parish Council invited villagers to afternoon tea . Trawden String Quartet  entertained and they were kind enough to give their services free. Donations totalling £185 to Pendleside Hospice were accepted in  memory of our late Chairman Ivan Marriott who supported this event.’

Our 2019 Foulridge Calendar will also be released at this event. Last year our calendar was a great success and we are pretty sure that this, our second collection of Foulridge photographs, will be as successful. The calendar makes an ideal gift, especially for friends and family who now live away from the village. It comes with a sturdy envelope for your convenience.
